8-week Adult Kendo Beginner Course, Autumn 2020

An 8-week Kendo beginners course will start on 6 May 2020. This course will teach you the Kendo basics, including etiquette, footwork, cutting techniques and various training methods. You will be ready to train in the traditional Kendo uniform and armour about mid-way through the course. By the end of the course, you will be ready to merge into the Sydney Kendo Club's regular Wednesday and Saturday classes as well as be graded at the NSW State Kendo Grading.

  • May 6, 13, 20, 27
  • June 3, 10, 17, 24
Time: Wednesday 7:00PM to 8:30PM

Duration: Every Wednesday for 8 weeks.

Location: Willoughby Park Centre, Corner of Warrane Road and McClelland Street, Willoughby

Cost: $250  

This covers the 8-week course fee, your own shinai - the bamboo sword used in Kendo - annual membership fees of the Australian Kendo Renmei and NSW Kendo Association, and insurance.

During the course, the instructor will discuss how to buy your own uniform (kendogi and hakama) and armour (bogu). These items are purchased from Japan and last for many years of Kendo practice.
